While the “One Health” concept aims to integrate the human, animal, and environmental dimensions of health, its implementation reveals a variety of perspectives that are often at odds with one another. This session will address the communication challenges inherent in this approach, highlighting the strategic importance of intermediation in bridging knowledge gaps, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation, and building a truly inclusive and sustainable global health initiative.
Nicolas Duracka is an associate professor of information and communication sciences at the University of Montpellier Paul-Valéry and studies the communication processes of agents of social change. Currently, he is examining the communication dynamics of stakeholders in the One Health approach. He studies international public health as a field undergoing profound transformation, arguing that human health can only be guaranteed if animals and our ecosystems are healthy. Consequently, the success of this paradigm shift depends on improving communication between the various spheres of human, animal, and environmental health.
